This demonstration shows recognition of natural materials, regardless rotation and illumination conditions.
The dataset is created from Amsterdam Library of Textures (ALOT) and consists of 200 materials, each acquired under 24 different illumination and viewpoint directions. These images are divided into training set and test set.
Click on the image from training set and the system will find similar images in the test set. The images are considered to be similar if the structure is similar, regardless texture rotation, illumination colour or illumination direction. The result images are ordered from left to right and top to bottom. The first is image is the most similar one and then similarity decreases.
More details on algorithm of finding similar images can be found in the published articles.
